Due to the forecasted rain this weekend, the Galax High School Graduation Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, May 23, has been moved indoors and will now be held in the Galax High School Gymnasium beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Because of the scheduling and preparation requirements for our stage and sound contractor, this decision had to be made Tuesday. The contractor is responsible for supporting multiple graduation ceremonies throughout the region, including ours, and needed advance notice regarding the ceremony location to ensure the appropriate equipment and setup could be provided. Thank you for understanding that while the forecast may continue to change as the week progresses, the decision had to be made with the information we had earlier in the week as the company is not able to change the location of our equipment set up.

We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we work to provide a safe and enjoyable celebration for our graduates, families, and guests.
We look forward to celebrating and honoring the Class of 2026 together.

Today we celebrate our incredible Speech-Language Pathologists who help our students find their voice, build confidence, and communicate with the world around them. Happy National Speech Pathologist Day!

School is out, summer meals are in! Galax City Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children. Meals must be consumed on site in teh school cafeteria. Meals will be provided on a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

Galax High Shcool, 200 Maroon Tide Drive Galax, VA
Meals served: June 1-26, 2026 and July 6-31, 2026
Breakfast Hours: 7AM-8:30AM
Lunch Hours: 11AM-12:30PM

GHS Students continue to make school history!! For the 1st time ever, our band and choir students have received the VMEA Blue Ribbon award. The VMEA Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award given to schools music programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia and recognizes achieved excellence in Band, Orchestra, and Choral Performance. All top eligible performing groups must receive a final Superior rating at VMEA District Concert Performance Assessment to qualify for this award. Eligibility is outlined below.
