We are thrilled to recognize Galax Elementary student Joseph Lopez-Rivera for being named the winner of the Elementary School category in the second annual VSBA Statewide Art Contest.

Joseph’s exceptional piece, “Land of Peace,” was selected from an array of highly competitive submissions from across the Commonwealth. This achievement is also a testament to the dedication of Galax Elementary Art teacher Erin Creed, whose guidance continues to inspire excellence in our arts program.

To celebrate his artistic achievement, Joseph and his family attended the VSBA Conference on Education in Virginia Beach, where he was presented with a commemorative trophy and a $1,000 award.

Congratulations to both Joseph and Mrs. Creed on this outstanding accomplishment!

Fall sports season is officially about to begin. Please see the official start dates for Galax High School below. Be sure to have your completed VHSL physical prior to these dates and plan to attend the parent meeting on July 28th for more information.
